1100 Compared To 1100s

  1. right, I bought a 2009 1100 hyper with 9k. completely untouched apart from carbon side panels on rear and carbon tank cover.
I had a 1100s 2 years ago and missed it so bought this 1100 bog standard. it does handle a little different but didn't think it would be that much.
would it be worth spending the money on the standard 1100 or just sell it and buy a sorted 1100s or evo.
    what's peoples views.?

  2. I think a really good suspension set up, maybe with uprated valve kit would be the cheapest way to go. I did the valves and replaced the rear shock on my Daytona and it was damn nearly ohlins plush, really impressive. U will waste money changing again

  3. Anyone know if other model ducati ohlins forks fit the hyper1100 2009? There never any dedicated used ones for sale for a hyper but loads for monsters, multistraders etc.

  4. I've never rode the standard one so I don't know what it's like but I have had the 1100 S , in fact i bought it from you (tarmacassin), the ohlins is nice but compared to the sp which I have now the ohlins feels crashy compared to the longer travel Marzzochi front and longer travel ohlins rear . The sp is a superb back lane bike it absorbs everything thrown at it .
You can a pro set up like Phil says and it would be loads better and the cheaper option but still have limitations on how plush you can get it , changing bikes will be lots more dosh .
I ride back lanes and over the dales so a plush ride is key for me

I have a Aprilia v4r tuono aswell , well this is my second one , first one had all ohlins fitted off the factory version set up for 13 stone rider ..... was like being dragged along on a shovel , one I got now has standard suspension with maxton springs and valve work and oil done by maxton ..... it's loads better ... more plush but if anything I would like it softer but again you can only get it to a certain level if you don't have a lot of travel to play with , but shows you what's possible with standard suspension modified by the experts .

  5. I was looking for a set of ohlins, for my crash damaged 1100s , I don't think any forks fit , fork bottoms are the same as 1098 but forks are to short . I got a set from US for £600 full front end , bargain , just keep your eye out and try Germany and France eBay
