1100 Evo - Cold Idle & Hot Starting Issue

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by HYPERBIMDUKE, Oct 31, 2017.

  1. I have a Hyper 1100 evo that starts fine when cold but idle is low & lumpy, drives perfectly though.
Also hot starts sound like battery is struggling, switch off for a few seconds & re-try, fires up immediately, never cuts out or anything, just not how it was.
Valve clearances all good after head refurb, I think maybe TPS as this has never been reset.
Stepper is fine as I tried one from another bike, no difference.
    Any thoughts or ideas?

  2. Thinking air temp sensor too, have a spare, will swap it.

  3. It’s very odd that the starter struggles more with a hot engine than cold. My guess is that it’s a battery/cable/connection problem.
What voltage is showing on the dash??

  4. Have Exact start cables, stripped & cleaned sarter motor, changed air temp sensor, looking to reset tps when I can get JPDig connected to ecu.

  5. Can’t see how TPS or air sensor could affect the speed at which the power from the battery spins the starter, making it slower when hot.
Normally, thinner hot oil allows the motor to spin more quickly than cold, thicker oil.
Are you charging your battery overnight? If so, maybe your charging system is not working properly, thus causing your battery to be partially depleted when performing the hot start?

  6. Charging all checks out ok. If i wait 10 mins it starts. Reason i suspect tps or other electronics is when i had a stepper issue the bike would crank repeatedly more times. Its as if its fighting itself. Maybe removing plug caps to see if that allows it to crank over normally. The bike allways used to fire instatly before it seemed in less than 1 revolution as you barely heard the starter.
