1100evo vs 1100s

  1. Hi to all.

My hyper has been bought (just waiting for delivery - should be tomorrow - hopefully)

Ive bought the 1100evo. 18months ago I had an 1100s (a heavily modified one). While there was nothing wrong with it in over 20 years of riding on and off ive never owned anything with fairing so I got an RSV4 factory which is nothing short of brilliant. Ive managed to hold on to it and get another hyper (thanks to the wife for that - but ive got a bathroom renovation coming my way - theres always a trade off...)

So, ive been able to find loads of stuff on the old hyper against the new one but what about my new one v the old (ie the 1100s v the 1100evo)

My 1100s had a full zard system powercommander, dyno'd loads of carbon fibre. The evo has a termi end can and a little bling on it but is the reworked engine that much better than the old or no? I didn't go for the sp as I prefer the lower ride height - plus it was a little out of my price range and I can bolt on the sp bits bit by bit, wheels, shock etc etc.

Anyway - it hasn't even turned up and ive bought the performance seat already...

I almost plumped for a ktm 690 smc but I figure the hyper was more bike for the money as give or take 200quid they were the same price...

  2. Eh - why would I go to the monster forum? - im talking about 2 hyper's

  3. Sorry. Mince pies must be reading/looking for Monsters instead of Hypers. A few Monster members had both M1100s & Hypers.

Main difference is twin spark as opposed to single spark, I would guess the Evo is slightly smoother than the old S model. I've been told that the new 821's are a big difference compared to the older models. However not tried 1.

    Anyway enjoy.

  4. S'ok - just wondered if anyone had owned the 2....

The dyno on my old one produced 92bhp with 76 torque I believe the stock evo is 95 bhp @ 75 so that's a good start....!

Cant wait for the gruntiness to ensue if that's a word! I did have a ktm 660 recently which was a great laugh...they hyper is just an overgrown version in my eyes...

I took my RSV4 to Louigi moto as its not far away from me. They did say that the hyper motor was one of the most bullet proof engines that ducati had produced - that also swayed me as well as im going to be using it for commuting now and again but only in the dry.

  5. I don't know what the BHP/ torque was, but I had the following setup:-

Twin Termi end pipes, with a Zard open (decat) header pipes. Race Cams. Once I added the Cams it changed the Torque/ grunt characteristics for the better probably about 105BHP +. It often felt more comfy using 3/4 gear where before you'd use 2nd. Once I've sorted the De-cat'd headers on the M1100S I may put a set of hyper Cams in.

  6. Cams sounds expensive - how easy are they to fit and more to the point how much do they cost...?

  7. The Cams were about £500 + fitting and it about 60-90 mins you get a Race ECU with them.

  8. "+ fitting" - how much was that? - another 500! heh....

  9. Depends on the dealers labour rate. At the time of fitting it was approx £40ph.

  10. Ah.... Not too bad then... Bit further down the list for those...
