1198 Brembo Front Master Cylinder Leak

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by Preraphalite, Aug 5, 2018.

  1. Hi all,
Having had my 1198 for a while now, I’ve finally determined where the occasional drips of brake fluid are coming from on the front fairing.
The master cylinder has some very slight scoring, and I think that the rubber seals need replacing.
Anyone know how I can get some seals? It’s the simplest of jobs, but Ducati only want to sell me the complete master cylinder for about £350 a which is ridiculous
    Cheers all

  2. There was a thread a few days ago about a repair on a clutch master using seals fron KTM. Might be worth a look

  3. Ducati dont do the seals,as Nelly said.As above,KTM will do them but youll have to find what KTM model uses the same seal.

  4. That’s great. Thanks for the info. I’ll start researching!

  5. Little update.
Ducati don’t do seals. They fleece you for a new master cylinder.
However the newer Panigale 1199 master cylinder, fits. There are slight differences in the casting, but otherwise it works a treat.
List price is £100 less than the 1198 part!

  6. Isn’t the bore diameter on a Pani master cylinder smaller than 1*98 due to different calipers?

  8. RCS doesn’t fit 1*98 with standard switch gear but otherwise it’s great.
