Hey there just bought my pani 3 weeks ago and realised theres a oil leak from both cylinders. Bike is on 6000kms and only modifications are the termi slip ons and the up map. Bikes still under warranty however the service schedule is 9 months overdue. The dealership is now telling me for us to make the warranty claim we will need the service done. Has anyone had this oil leak issue with their pani and are all ducati dealers ass holes cause i feel like there trying to rip me as another authorised dealer has told me that an overdue service doesnt cause a gasket to leak what should i do can any one help thanks in advance
Just had a look at that site and yes it does state that it must be maintained at either 12000kms or 12 months which ever comes first. So maybe i have to pull the bike out of there and take it to the other dealer who said that he will have it fixed and serviced under warranty
Because the other dealer said a late service doesnt cause gaskets to leak. He told me to contact ducati and explain my situation and that they will fix it up.
I'm guessing that your not in the UK. Here it's up the the selling dealer to fix it, warranty or otherwise. Consumer laws may be different where you are.
Common problem when fitting rad guard is that when you undo the upper fixing bolt it loosens the stud the bolt goes into and causes a oil leak.
Oh ok nah no rad gaurds fitted. The oil.leak is actually all over the radiators and the rear cam chain tensioner has collected alot of the oil as well.
I strongly doubt thats the case because the head directly underneath the seat is also leaking. I just hope in the end these guys dont stitch me for a service that they have to do regardless to change over the rocker cover gaskets.
So i got some good news from the dealer who is dealing with my bike. I emailed ducati head office last night about what the dealer had told me etc etc. I called the dealer lunch time today and miraculously he tells me yes it is a warranty issue and that it will all be done under warranty. Problem was front cylinder rocker cover gasket and the rear cylinder (underneath the seat) the cam chain tensioner was leaking the oil. Replaced gasktet and the cam chain washers and its all ready to pick up. They have already test road it on the street and no signs of oil. I will be getting a written report on what was done so if it comes back after warranty runs out they will have to do it again free of charge as its been in there to get fixed before. Outcome. Im a happy customer and dont regret buying a ducati at this point.
