Good evening, So I've bit the bullet and got my very first Ducati coming this week ;-), an 1199s Tricolore with full termi', i'm interested in hearing what dB's the system puts out as i tend to do a couple of track days a month, any tips? Cheers, Rob. P.S sorry if this has been covered before.
Not really a 'well informed' answer, but I understand that careful interpretation of where the sound meter is positioned has a fundamental impact on whether you pass..... greater minds with actual experience will doubtless enlighten matters further. Oh, I discovered a couple of widgets in the boxes of stuff that the bikes arrive with, that look like they fit into the end of the pipes.... fit 'em, test and un-fit'em ?
Nice bike! I like the white on the tank. Ties in with the rest of the bike and makes it look more finished off
Great paint job. Regarding noise levels; they fail all the static tests but Ducati has talked with the trackday companies and so far I've done fine with the drivebys with termis. Donnington (vid below) was no problem even on the 98dB day. The only person who got black flagged was one of the BSB 899 challenge guys who had an Austin Racing can, and he just short shifted at the beginning of the main straight for the day. Brands seems to be a similar situation but I've not been there on the Pani yet.
Cheers mate, nothing worse than booking an event getting ready then failing noise tests and sitting it out... by the way are the baffles in the Termis just screw into the end?, bikes not arriving until Thursday
Looks like a self tapper or similar to me....... not actually tried them but they do exist at least !
Yeah, they are self tappers I think. I've never used them but it's nice to know they are there in case of problems. I do generally go for the noisy days for obvious reasons but Panis seem to be managing more of the non noisy days at some venues now since they started skipping the static tests for the drivebys.
The baffles are a bugger to fit. Really tight but they do work. At Cadwell my 1199R was tested at 104Db but I've just got back from a "quiet" day at Spa where the limit was 100Db and there were masses of 1199R (with baffles) flying around with no problem. I wimped out and took the HP4 as I knew it would get under 100Db without a problem; Belgium is a long way to go to fail the noise test!
I made 107dB yesterday tested at 5k RPM at brands. Termi slip ons with baffles installed if that helps? Sam
ouch.. is it true the full system is a little bit quieter than the slip ons? Also, anyone here recommend some good track fairings?
No idea mate - I can't see how it would be that much different in all honesty. I'm glad I put the baffles in now... I was installing them as I queued up for noise testing so god knows what I'd have made without them installed!
