Diavel 1200 Carbon Suspension.

Discussion in 'Diavel & XDiavel' started by HarrisBikeNut, Jul 7, 2022.

  1. Having now got a few miles under the wheels of my Diavel, changed the “loud” Racefit exhaust and fitted an HP Corse in its place, my thoughts are turning towards the suspension. On Lincolnshire’s “fine” tarmac, I am finding both ends of the bike hard and harsh shall we say on anything less than billiard smooth. One of the first things I have completed is putting all settings back to stock as per the owners manual. No great improvement, so is it necessary to replace both front and rear units to get a more compliant ride? Thinking Nitron currently but also want to ring MCT to gather their thoughts.
One final point, dash is indicating less than 30mpg average. Surely not! I am not hooning around at 100% a 100% of the time……
Other than that, loving the bike………

  2. Thread revival! was thinking the same on my carbon - did you do anything about it in the end? My next move after going back to owners manual settings was to try a bike suspension set up specialist - did you try that?

  3. After my amateur attempts with my Xdiavel, I had a professional suspension setup that significantly improved things. In the end, however, I bit the Nitron bullet. The new Nitron shock made a massive difference – it’s like a different bike! :upyeah:

A Nitron shock proved well worth it for my Xdiavel, and I imagine it would make a similar difference for the Diavel Carbon, too.

  4. Cheers, I'll try the pro set up first, but I am thinking of a Nitron tbh (Ohlins would be the dream, but on an 8 year old bike - not sure it's worth the extra expense versus the difference in gains - Ohlins v Nitron). Are you uk based? if so who set your bike up and how much was a Nitron and fitting?

  5. Steve Jordan (near Leatherhead) sourced and fitted the Nitron shock and can give you a quote. Their service was excellent, and several others here can also vouch for Steve Jordan.

    They do suspension setups, too.
