125/70 Front For Track Use

  1. Picked up a set of scrub Metzeler TD slicks and stupidly didn't pay any attention to the size of the front as I hadn't even realised that fronts were starting to vary in size. Anyone got any experience with the larger fronts? From some reading it seems the new WSBK sizes are increasing to 125/70 to match the 200/65 rears which is where it's all filtering down to

  2. My friend has raced with a 125 quite a bit, it’s easier with race mudguards etc but worth checking you have good clearance under your mudguard. If you got it cheap maybe just give it a go and see how you get on, it’s only in reality a little bigger

  3. I’ve used the 125 front a few times (brought as scrubs like yourself). I can’t say that I noticed any real difference in handling or outright grip when compared to the 120 profiles and the tyre warmers just about cleared the mudguard.

As Phil says, check you have enough clearance once fitted on the bike, if this is the case, you should be fine.

  4. OK so I can confirm that a 125/70 will fit under the front mudguard, but not warmers. So a 125/70 is a no-go with standard fairings
