1299 1299 Sl Question

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by MarkyRR, Jul 6, 2019.

  1. Good morning folks. I’m in the fortunate (I think!) position of collecting a 1299SL this weekend, hopefully later today. I’ve been given the owners manual for a bit of pre-learning, but have a question surrounding suspension (apologies if this is in the wrong forum).

Would anybody be able to tell me the standard factory settings please, or where I can find them in the manual as I’ve gone blind from looking! :)

    Thank you!

  2. Regardless of what the book says why not take it to a suspension specialist and get them to set it for your weight, Will only cost about £50

  4. What do you weigh?

You’d benefit massively from matching at least the front spring rates to your weight and riding ability and if you are particularly light or fat boy then the shock as well. The SL and R models can be a right bitch when not set up properly but they dont need to be like this. People are afraid to change stuff when it’s pretty much essential on a bike like this.

  7. Thanks guys, put 217 miles on the bike this afternoon (took the looong way home!). Actually feels good. I’ll adjust the tyre pressures a little, but have already thought about getting some assistance with a proper set up.

Have gelled with it really quickly and wasn’t going too badly to be honest, all things considered (ie new (expensive) bike, weekend traffic etc). Really not going to be shy about using it....what a beautiful piece of kit!

  8. Hi,
Just about 30 years worth! Spent time on anything & everything including adventure bikes, Enduro’s, roadsters etc. Also had a bit of experience some years ago racing a little MZ with Bemsee & stacks of track day stuff (last track bike was a bmw s1000rr). I will take this on track, but to be honest, it’ll be more about pottering around winning the inters than anything else! Lol

  16. To be quite honest that is why I have sold my 1199SL. Having had 2 off-road motorcycles stolen one night in February earlier this year I was dreading my renewal premium when it came due later this year.

  17. Get a tracker fitted if you have'nt already, It made a huge difference for me when I came to Insure the V4s.

  18. £1,454 with a tracker & pre break-in!

  19. So your potentially saying from you're own testifiable research that meditation doesn't work? That staring either at a white wall as many monks practice or that focusing on a single 60watt light source or the moon & eventually closing ones eyes. After a few minutes un-blinking mindfulness (to start with), that quite a few eloquent authors retort. Is all made up nonsense ..or prehaps you haven't got the ability to channel ones will-power into something inner worldly strenghtening. The purveyors of sacred knowledge don't like to pass it down the food chain. Because then the monied slaves might wake up'

It's almost like your totally ignoring how modern society has thrown off the rigors of religious control. From the printing press to now the global digital cyber-world. Into a more moral holistic civilization where science & facts benevolently dictate societal norms. However you come across (most likely wrongly) as someone who'd cuddle up to a trumpesque person than share a beer with me over the intricacies of lifes journey towards our inevitable bodily demise.
