Just fitted an almost brand new sigma slipper clutch to the 1299s and turned off the pants ebc and what a difference, the transition on and off power, downshifts into corners is just beautiful. Need to pay with preload and stack height as have 15k on the clutch pack so can only get 1.1mm with the largest disc and for the big twins they recommend closer to 1.5mm But anyway all good, I am finding down shirt blipping a bit of a challenge (I don't use auto blip as love the feel of doing it myself) it feels like the slipper moves the bite point so to speak as it dynamically adjusts it's equilibrium between back torque and ramp preload. So get you can feel in the lever the clutch slipper closing as you remove torque by pulling clutch but also sort of means the timing of the blip is effected for perfect downshift depending how hard you have the slipper engaged? Or am I talking crap Or am I doing it all wrong and I should be a monster and no blip no clutch downshifts and let the slipper deal with it like some people seem to do?? Overal great new addition and should have come stock. Oh and why do people say 1299 has slipper stock and to use in 899 retro fit etc? They confused and talking about ebc as have the clutch basket in my hand and defo no slipper??? Cheers all
I've ran slipper clutches on my 996 for years. As no blippers on these dinosaurs, I just kick it down through the box and let the clutch out. Slippery bits do their job and away we go. I do strip and check the clutch after every track day to grease the balls, and measure the stack height. Life is much easier on the 1199
Not concerned persay just have no reference as my first slipper but yeah have heard good things about them being super friendly and helpful one of the reasons went with them.
