Discussion in 'Panigale' started by james griffin, Apr 27, 2019.

  1. Aup guys just wanting a bit of advice on the v4s am jumping from the 1299s to the v4s new bike

Just few question really the bike will be full track use only

trade in value for my 15plate 1299s is 13k with 7k on the clock in stock road trim is that good trade in value ?

Am more worried about the new bike more than owt with all the recalls flying about and reliability. I have a track day booked on the 13th of may how do i go about running it in with warranty ect just ride it like i stole lol ? Been told ppl dont always stick to the 500 miles run in jobby its more down to heat cycles on the engine

Whats the riding like compared to the 1299 seen a few post about the v4 being bad on the arms ? Is it that much of a hand full more than the 1299 ?

  2. I found it less of a handful than the 1299/1199 to be fair but it still is a bit.

As for running it in, people go on about it but the engine will have already been thrashed to fuck on the dyno at Bologna so I wouldn’t worry too much

  3. Yeah, ran mine in on track. 795 miles now. I didn’t scream the tits off it but I didn’t follow the book either. Somewhere in between I guess.
I’ve found it super easy to ride. Mind you, I was jumping on from a 1098R

  4. 13K? I would have thought was a bit on the low side as a trade in. Is the V4 new? what dealership is this?

  5. I was offered £12k for my 1299s with 15k miles...

  6. Just to give you an idea of trade in to retail price , I bought a 1299s with 3750 miles and a termignoni system immaculate condition year 2015 of ducati glasgow for 15200 pounds so 13000 wouldn't be a million miles off ?

In my opinion £13k is a reasonable px price.
Running in, most ideally warm up the bike then let it to cool down, then warm it up properly before going out.
Try and play with the revs up and down for the first session, allow the engine to pull from lower revs and go all the way up to 9k for the first couple of laps. Then increase the revs to 12k using the same procedure.
Second session use as intended by the chaps in Bologna.
    Enjoy your new toy :)

  9. Just done the same, no issues riding it at all. It is much smoother and therefore it seems much quicker to get to silly speeds. I would suggest you get the service done at or very near the 600 mark or if there are problems you may leave some wriggle room on any warranty claims. If you’re doing Donny it’s on 14th and see you there hopefully
