Hi guys looking some advice on what could be causing my 2011 diavel to completely cut out when rolling of the throttle and immediately on clutch being pulled in to change down gears usually 2nd to 3rd, happens roughly every 100 miles the bike starts up straight away again but I’ve had some hairy moments with cars nearly running into the back of me. The bike has 6200 miles and I have read on forums lots about it without finding a definitive answer. I’m going to ring dealer next week but thought somebody here might have an answer before I start haemorrhaging money, do you think an ecu re flash would help as I don’t what to start changing parts randomly Any thoughts greatly appreciated
Had a similar experience on the same age Diavel. That first generation fly by wire throttle body is a hybrid, actual Bowden cables at the handlebar, terminating at a potentiometer and resistance spring. Problem was one of the throttle butterfly motors was sticking which the ECU saw as a mismatched throttle and shut down. Not something easily diagnosed if you don’t know what to look for. Might not be your problem but the dealer should be able to identify if that is the problem quickly, if he’s pointed at that area. Difficulty is, the butterfly throttle assembly isn’t available as a replaceable part and the throttle body assembly might not be available any more. If it is that, fingers crossed it’s not, I’m sure I still have the throttle body assembly somewhere which could be cannibalised for parts. Andy
Thanks for that Andy, first time I have heard of that, hasn’t come up on other searches will definitely mention to dealership next week and if turns out to be that I’ll come back to you
