2013 Multistrada - Abs/speed Sensor

  1. Hi all

I'm aware that this is a common issue and there are already a few threads on it. I had the warning flashing up on the display, with the red ignition LED lights flashing (around the circular display), combined with intermittent loss of power. This has all come about since I did a long run in a Cumbria/Dumfries and Galloway monsoon.

I cleaned the ABS sensors and ABS rings, front and rear although I was under the impression (wrongly) that it was probably the rear that was at fault. The fault remained though.

I've just traced the cables from both sensors. Rear seems fine, externally at least. The front however was something quite special. It's obviously been damaged in the past and the previous owner has made an attempt at repairing it. This worked for the first 18 months I owned the bike but it was rarely used in very heavy rain. The repaired cable does have heat shrink over the repairs but this is between the original sections of cable sheath, with no protection over the top. Clearly water was going to get in.

My plan is to cut out the section, re-solder it and see if everything works properly again. If it does and that's definitely the only fault, I'll order up a new ABS cable.
