Hi guys, sorry if this has been gone over before but i have a dash from a 14 panigale R will this fit my s model and is it a matter of just a plug and play swop....thanks
The dash is locked to the ecu and ignition key. You’ll need a specialist to get the three working together.
The dash is not locked to anything on a Panigale and can be swapped to another bike, You will need to reset the service indicator, the mileage can be adjusted at the same time (you can only increase the mileage and not decrease) all done by a friendly dealer or service centre with Ducati diag.
I was told that the ECU, BBS and clocks are coded together. They talk to each other on start up and compare (I think) the VIN number each has. If they are not the same you will get an “Unknown Device” error on the dash. This persists as a large red box on the dash for a few seconds but then downsizes to a 10mm x 5mm red box at the bottom of the screen. The dash will then work as normal. I know this as I tried to fit a 2013 1199R dash to my 1199 S when I put an R engine in it. It’s not that big a deal to live with but I’m told that the only way to remove this is to use a race loom.
