1200 2013 - Skyhook Sachs Fork Seals...

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Stavrich, Feb 28, 2022.

  1. Hi All,

Having a problem finding part numbers for the fork seals and bushings for my Multi 1200s 2013 with Sachs Skyhook.

Both forks leak and due to the high mileage I would like to replace fork seals, dust seals and the bushes.

I will be grateful if you could let me have the part numbers and brand you've used - not the Ducati numbers, I have those.

    Many Thanks

  2. I used SKF seals, SKF - KITG-48Z-HD,(double check that part number) 16000 miles ago on my Sachs skyhook forks, all good so far.
Originals lasted 22000 miles. The bushes were ok but I will change them next time as I can now feel a tiny amount of play.

  3. @GTmorgan - Great! Thanks.
I think mine are SKF and lasted for 66000 miles and definitely will need both bushes as well by now. Do you or anyone else have the dimensions or part numbers of the bushes.

  4. I did some searching a while back as I wanted to avoid the expense of the genuine overhaul kit which is around £95 per leg. Ktech suspension list them https://store.ktechsuspension.com/f...s-035.html?find=Ducati_Multistrada+1200S_2013

    SKU SBS-035
    SKU Weight (kg) 0.080000
    SKU Barcode 5056106121267
    Inner Diameter (mm) 46.70
    Outer Diameter (mm) 48.70
    Height (1) mm 19.75
    Thickness (mm) 1.00

Just passing on my findings, can't confirm 100% correctness as I've not replaced my bushes yet.

  5. Got the SKF KITG-48Z and look the same. Also ordered the bushes from Brook Suspensions – NOK bushes - Upper Guide bush GBS-033/15 (52x48x15x2) – lower Slide bush SBS-035 (48.7 x46 x20x1).

    Another issue now.
Taken the fork apart according to the spare parts catalogue there should be a washer that fits under the spring -see diagram. There was no such washer on mine unless I dropped it.
The workshop manual does not show or mentions the said washer.
    This is a bit worrying...

Was this washer present on yours or not. Please let me know

  6. I’ve got a spare pair of skyhook internals, just looked at the non electronic leg, pictures below.

  7. @GTmorgan - you have saved me so much grief! Those pictures were of great help especially the last one. When looking for the washer shining a torch down the tube I couldn't make out the washer before but your photos gave me the answer. It was there but nicely stuck at the bottom and looked like a part of the rest-see photos. Removed it with a magnet just to make sure.

Many thanks - I owe you a pint or two at least!

  8. No problem mate, glad to be of help.
I didn't see it easily hence why I showed a picture of it in place and out of place, it's just there to protect the alloy inner from the wear of the steel spring.
Also lucky I had a spare pair, knew they'd come in handy one day!

  9. I rebuilt my Skyhook forks using All Balls and they are leaking again.
Would it be possible to confirm the parts numbers as I have had leakage with the OEM parts as well.
    Thanks SO much!

  10. This is what I used and since then no leaks - all perfect.

  12. Mines booked in with Alec at Ducati Pro Team for another set. The last ones lasted 16000 miles.

  13. @johnalex - ... and double check that stanchions are in perfect condition. File down any scratches or burrs with a very fine sandpaper.

The good fun starts when the rear shocks needs a rebuilt... but that's another story.:)
