So my 2015 (on a 65 plate) 1200 dvt multi went in for some waranty recall work yesterday and whilst it was in I asked the tech to have a look at the clutch slave cylinder as I've been very slowly loosing fluid for about 500 miles now. The tech confirmed that there was a small weep on the clutch slave cylinder. Now i run 2 finger levers and I do find the clutch a bit heavy and I was concidering the oberon slave unit as a possible replacement. http://www.oberon-performance.co.uk/acatalog/Ducati_Clutch_Slave_Cylinders_DCSC.html The fitting looks well within my tinkering comfort zone and I believe (correct me if I'm wrong here) that the original ducati slave cylinders are prone to weeping so a new one from ducati may be a pointless exersise. Has anyone fitted one, what is the fitting like and does it make the clutch lighter and smoother to use?
Replaced my slave cylinder with Oberon a year or so ago. The fitting was straightforward with no problems. It is better than the stock setup now as far as the lever pull is somewhat lighter but I wouldn't say a huge difference. I was not having problems with the stock cylinder.
Try searching "Oberon" @Mobile Chicane . There are several threads covering this topic. And yes it does.
Installing is straight forward provided you can do bleeding afterwards. Clutch smoother and yes lighter. May not be 30% as advertised but lighter for sure. Original one packed up by 8500 km
cheers for the replies guys, orderd on yesterday and will have it fitted by the weekend although the weather may scupper any chance of a test run
Make sure you bleed it really well. It's lighter because the ratio of master cylinder to slave cylinder size is different. This gives a lighter action at the expense of range of movement. If you get all the air out you will be fine but if you don't, it could cause drag, making it more difficult to get neutral.
