Hi folks, Looking for a set of 3 spoke brembo wheels for my 916 SP. Has to be gold and have to be in good condition. I have seen two shades of gold on these wheels, a deep gold and a lighter shade. I would be looking for the lighter colour. I've added a photo of the original rear wheel showing the colour I am looking for. Thanks, Stephen
The ones pictured above originally come off of the bike (1995 SP1) and were sold by a so called "friend" who was storing them for me. I contacted Ducati and they can furnish me with a set at £1469+VAT! He sold the pair for under £50! To say I am angry with him is an understatement! Will keep my eyes peeled on Ebay.
£1500!!!!!plus VAT.Bargain.I would have thought a pair could be had for less than 10% of that. You may need to spray them to your prefered colour.Oh yeah, some mate that. Not on your Christmas card list I take it.
Yeah it was a tad more than I was expecting! And yes that "mate" is very much on my s**t list. Currently in the midst of small claims court proceedings as it wasn't the only thing of mine he sold! :rage:
The early ones like yours are a bit more difficult to land. The rear had 'Ducati Racing' cast around the axle. Iirc, they only went on early 916. When 748 came along it was dropped.
The ones with Ducati Racing cast into them are much harder to find and having bought several pairs in the past as spares for wets etc. only once did I come across a set with the casting on them. I think you might find it difficult to locate a set like that and have them in good order.
Thanks for all the info guys, I have managed to locate a good set of wheels with tyres. Thanks again
Wasn’t the 748 introduced in 1995? Both my 1996 916s (ex-bip and SP3) had/have the « Ducati Racing » inscription on the rear wheel. Could it have gone with Cagiva selling to TPG and « Ducati Racing » being renamed « Ducati Corse » around 1997?
I'm thinking only the SP and SPS versions had them from 94 to 97 and perhaps with stock left over they went on a year or so more years.
Pic 1, '96 916 Bip Pic 2, '99 996 Bip (to mono conversion) Sorry, can't help with the 748, I don't have one of them (yet )
