Had the bike since sat morning. Just thought I would update my experience so far. It will be interesting to read the reviews re the test rides on the road. I reckon its too hard and needs a different spring. This was backed up at mct Stowmarket today local suspension specialist. Settings have been altered in sport mode and has transformed the bike in the little time I was there a bit more compliant for the road. I made the mistake in not sorting my evo out re suspension first off, this is the best money I have ever spent on a mod on the a bike. I hit a false neutral this morning using quick shifter bit worrying when running it in, lots of lights. I have had the traction control light come on a few times but not noticed anything intrusive. The bike can only get 100 miles on a tank, which is a bit disappointing as I understood it has larger capacity than the 1198. I understand the ecu is working things out for the first 600 miles, I have had a few fuelling issues in town on constant throttle, bogging down. Hopefully this will sort its self out once run in. I love the bike it's such a hoot to ride and so confidence inspiring I can't wait to run it in and give it the beans with the qs it sounds bloody great so quick and smooth. I have only ridden in 7-9 deg heat so good knows what it's gonna be like once the roads are warm. I have ordered comfort seat and neoprene, comfort is for Europe this year. Termi's are not required as it sounds fantastic standard and I don't like the location of the 70mm system oh and the cost. Looks like its gonna rain the remaining part of the week so won't be on it. If anyone has the same issues re suspension it would be great to hear your views. I of course will let you know what mct have done today.
Pick of the bike outside lotus dealer caught in a hail storm!! And first pick of me just about to do my first mile. Will take some of the bike Tom after I have cleaned it.
Oh you noticed only went out for ride and passed the dealer on the way home from a hail storm lovely!! Must stay out of there trouble is there is a cabinet with all the goodies in Hugger next but it don't need owt else, I think??
If MCT are your local suspension bods, where are you located Dewy ? We run the bikes in BSB, I'm in Kedington, south of Bury, so if you need any help give me a shout.....
Cheers in Norwich not that local but good ride out on some of those back roads. Will defo have to hook up once she is run in.
I rode one last weekend for an afternoon and did a write up on here - suspension issues were one of my observations on it too - front needs less pre-load and the rear needs a lighter weight spring in it - exactly the same as the 1098 was - stiff as a board!!
Sorry Nog I didn't but I'm going up to the store tomorrow - so can soon find out - but the rear was absolutely stiff as a plank on the one I rode!
Thanks Gav.....the spring for the TTX on the race bikes is a larger diameter than normal, we are struggling to get the selection we need at the moment, just wondered if the road unit has the same issue. We actually went to a harder 9.0 spring at Thruxton.....
Mct wound the rebound upto max on the rear. Said it needed a lighter spring will trawl thro guff I got with the bike. Track and road different storey but i spend most of my time on the road. And by the sounds of things that's where I will stay due to sound issues.
Ps I never have been beaten up on the rear like this bike I thought my last duke was hard but this one takes the piss. Apart from that I love everything about it.
what a beautiful looking bike , it reminds me of ( and dont ask why ) a ferrari f355 berlinetta , just pure class is that mate
View attachment 6921 have you changed your rear shock linkage from F to P? everyone keeps changing ther suspension settings but no one ever talks about hanging the linkage .... it is meant to do just that : smoothen the rear for road use... grtz Koen
