Hi, I have a 400 ss junior with a double seat . I have seen some 400,s with a cover over the rear seat and I was wondering if it is the same seat cover that I’ve seen fitted to the 750 ss ? As my 400 is a rare beast Hopefully I can widen my search if it’s the same as a 750 or others ? Thanks in advance
can't say 100% that parts are identical (750/400) but can't see why they wouldn't be. https://www.bike-parts-ducati.com/ducati-motorcycle/assignment_spare_parts/48310041AA https://www.stein-dinse.biz/eliste/index.php depending on price if you find one, I would be tempted to manufacture in thin aluminium sheet and get painted. I have the equivalent 900 but also no pillion cover.
Was it not just the engine capacity that altered for the 400, as I recall these were destined for the Far East Japanese domestic market. Not a great success sales wise over there, some unsold units came over here, I’ve seen some being offered up by D&K in Stoke occasionally.
^Yes, and Australia for later 400s. Although arguably underpowered, I’ve mentioned on here several times how much fun they are to ride, more fun than a 600 but I can’t really explain why. You can be fearless mid-corner on the throttle of course for starters, and with an engine that certainly later on had a factory red line of 11,000 rpm, the sound was glorious with a twin revving that high.
Hero points, Red lining it like a moped, better to ride a slower bike quickly than a fast bike slowly.
