998 45 Into 50 Termis Ecu Question

Discussion in '748 / 916 / 996 / 998' started by hp82, Oct 20, 2020.

  1. Hi all, I have bought 50mm termis and a 45/50 link pipe for my 02 998 bip. I was wondering what chip I should be getting to go with the new system. I have seen a 996r/998s chip for sale on another forum which I have been assured is the way to go I just wanted to check if anyone else had any thoughts or experiences in terms of fitting the 45/50 system as a whole and what ECU to go with.
I appreciate this is probably an old request as well so sorry if going over well trodden ground.

  2. I think it’ll be ok but there was something about the Rev limiter being higher on the 998S/R.
As long as you don’t keep bouncing it of the limiter you should be ok?

  3. In my opinion you need to get it on the dyno and flash the original ecu. It will run with the ecu you’ve mentioned, but with a dyno tune it’s so much better, runs smooth and a nice power curve. I would go that way 100%. Cheers N.

  4. 998s/996R had 50mm headers and different cams, this is not likely to run that well

the 45-50mm DP half system ECU is part number 96507702B

if you can find another Magneti Marelli IAW59M ECU (ideally from another 998 ), its possible to flash this with the correct map yourself using a $15 cable and IAWDIAG software

but the best option is to take the bike to a tuner who can custom map your ecu on a dyno.

  5. Thanks for the replies. Sourced a dyno out here in Hong Kong and seeing what sort of experience they have with Ducatis.

alternatively will be on the lookout for the half system ECU per funkatronic’s message above. If anyone has one please send me a pm as may be a good enough fix in the meantime.
    Cheers

  6. Don’t waste you £ on a new ecu that will eventually be flashed. It will run as good with the stock ecu. I would advice to stay stock until you’ve managed to source down a Ducati specialist that is able to reflash. Most dyno houses can actually.
