Only got it a week gone Friday and It'll be ready for its first service this weekend, had great weather up here lately so running it in has been no problem at all. Not missed a single gear since I dropped the gear lever down a touch, and I'm amazed that its still doing about 52 - 54 mpg!! Loving the bike, the handling is amazing, it can lean forever and feels so stable and planted on the road, can't wait to use a few more revs after its first service!!
Out of interest, do people really monitor their MPG? I haven't got a clue what I get out of mine, I just keep tipping petrol in it when the light comes on.
Big M, the mpg doesn't really bother me, its just that I'm amazed at how much more economical it is compared to the KTM 990 SMT I was running before it, that really was thirsty!
Once you've run it in things will change, and you start taking it above 7 grand you'll be grinning like a Cheshire Cat and not caring if it only does 10 mpg!. Enjoy!
At 7k it all goes a bit blurry. Rode my monster 1100 at weekend for a hour and kept thinking it was broken as im so used to the 1199 now.
Ha! Yes I can relate to this when I ride my SS. I'm more dangerous on that than the 1199 as I keep forgetting the brakes aren't as good, it doesn't handle as well and when I pull out to overtake it just gasps at me!.
You must have very deep pockets if you can keep pouring petrol in without monitoring how much its costing you.
I wouldn't say I moniter it. I just mess around with the dash and see what it doing as I'm riding through boring bits of road.
me neither we put probably £60 at least when on a good run, you cant buy a superbike and worry how far you can afford to travel, or keep the revs down for fuel economy,
Personally, I don't think about fuel. The more it uses, the more I realise I'm riding it as it's meant to be ridden. If I was worried about fuel economy I'd have bought a Honda DN-01. C'mon guys, sling yer leg over her and ride the bitch hard !
Worry about it? No. But i can easily put £150 in the car and bike in one week in the summer months. I cant afford to do that every week.
It's my indulgence in life. I monitor things like my electric bill and my phone bill to make sure I'm getting the best deals but things you enjoy you don't really care what it costs - within reason!. Especially when you own a Ducati!.
only time I ever monitor is on track, otherwise my bikes have always been around 10l = 100 miles on the road
