Hi Everyone, Newbie here with a 1996 748SP Homologation bike Only issue is that the headlight (l/h if sitting on the bike) is a european one (points the wrong way) MOT Tester has tried to realign beam using the usual Halfords type kit but no can do ......he says it needs a uk spec lamp can anyone help me pls?
Take it to pieces, and buy or make a small deflector plate that is the reverse of the one in there. It is only attached by two small screws. I have a spare light unit in the shed which is not for sale, but I could take pictures if you need further help - but not tonight, the sun is shining and I'm going out to play.
Thanks for the advice...if you could take a photo or two to help that would be really appreciated, if you or anyone else knows how to do this job pls let me know, agian if anyone has a light for sale and can help me that would make my day thanks for advice so far...really appreciate any help
Tools required One 7mm Spanner - 2 cover nuts One Phillips Screwdriver - 6 screws on next cover and the 1 that holds the deflector plate in. View attachment 2128 All you need is the deflector plate, shown in my hand in the first picture. If you can't get one from a dealer, make one out of a coke can or something
Indeed, I did this mod many years back and made a new plate from stainless steel, great writeup BTW although I'm not convinced about the coke-can fabrication...
You are right Tim, the coke can would be too thin to withstand the vibrations - better use a baked bean tin instead.
If your still looking for a headlight i have one here same as in the picture above pm me if interested
