748 998(999) engine swap

Discussion in '748 / 916 / 996 / 998' started by rob6539, Mar 23, 2013.

  1. Hi all, apologies if this topic has been brought up before, but I couldn't seem to find it by search.

I'm thinking of transferring a 998 engine (deep sump) into my 748 frame. Firstly is this possible? If so, what things should I be worried/thinking about, ie ECU and wiring looms.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Rob

  2. What sort of frame is it........ideally you want the R frame for air box clearance. sunshine 1099 007 - Copy - Copy.jpg this is my 1099 in a 748R frame..

  3. It's just a 748s. Would a standard capacity airbox cause me too much grief, or is it still do-able?

Loving the bike btw. fair play!

  4. thats a different ball game all together with that evo engine, i believe he wants to use a testastretta 999 998 bobbie...

Its not about the engine performance with the airbox, its a cross member on the std frame that gets in the way of fitting a 998 air box.

it can always be done, its just a bit more harder unecessary work...

  5. OOOO My bad....

  6. that said, if i was going to do another conversion, i wouldnt bother with a testa, id use a 1098 or even 1198......
