Can never replace your fist 748, but this is close.. Picked up yesterday evening in Manchester, rode back to Cheltenham A Little cleaning required, Found head stock had been adjusted for track type position, so no steering lock.. Soon changed this back to stock and steering lock working.. After a little cleaning This one is not as clean as the last, despite having half the miles I would like to do a full restore on this soon, have the frame powder coated in original colours maybe the wheels too, but i am tempted to just pop some magnesium / Ali or carbon ones on. New shock and battery tray first though, found it leaking acid when i got her back.. panel bolts too long and punctured the battery plus some plastic missing on the base of the battery tray.
If i had a garden or garage it would be in there.. Its at work until i have the "Immobiliser 5" branded chain. I'm going to try a Scorpio SR900i Alarm They look perfect for a bike.
Good luck with this one.. I agree it needs a little TLC but that's what makes it more fun, you get to know your bike that way too. I kinda like the mag coloured frame and bits.. makes it different without being tacky. Nice to see you didn't give in and go for the "common" red and chose the "go faster" yellow again! (yes I just opened that can of worms! lol)
You do know this one's yellow too don't you? Once can be excused. Twice and you need to check if you're colour blind Ps. Look after this one .
thumbs up for the immobiliser 5 chain, i use the 3 but will be buying their new 22mm link chain when released.
I ended up installing a Meta 357T-V2 this is my 3rd install and never had problems with these alarms, you do have to solder every join to keep them hassle free. I am going to add microwave to one of the negative outputs on this alarm, Microwave sensors are used on convertibles to protect when the roof is down, ideal for our bikes.. we can add send a text message or a chirp when someone gets within reaching distance of our bikes, not even touching them. I did buy a chain too, just a cheap £50 oxford one, but should keep the kids away, plus the alarm will wake me. If anyone wants help fitting or removing alarms, or install instructions for the Meta, Let me know. I love bikes and wouldn't ever charge.
Be careful as all Oxford chains can be cropped by the smallest of croppers and padlocks broken very easily even by kids. Almax immobiliser 3-5's cannot and the squire padlocks they use are one of the best. Very expensive but cheap for peace of mind. Hardie floor anchors are very good too.
