Hello guys, Im daily searching the net looking to buying a 748, seen a few on ebay this week that will hopefully go and see at the weekend. Just wondering, how much would i expect to pay at a Dealership to replace the belts? Its more so i get the stamp, so 'IF' i ever come to sell i know its done right, and also for my own peace of mind. Because most havent had it done. Thanks Johnny
Belts are roughly £100 and a dealer would probably charge around 2 hours labour. Labour charges vary and an independent would likely be cheaper I pay about £45 per hour. Steve
With a 748 I'd be looking for a good indie (as Birdie suggests), who in many cases would see more 748s than a main dealer. Tell us where you and people can make a recommendation.
Are there any good indies in Essex or Suffolk? I work on my own bikes but sometimes I think it's best to get a specialist to have a look at the Ducati (maybe with the problem i'm having now if I can't sort it)
When I bought my 996 last year, I called up a local dealer to see what they would charge to do the belts & give it a major service, they replied £900. Local specialist quoted me £600 for the same work. In the end I bought the bits myself and did the whole lot for a fraction of that, in a couple of mornings before going to work. As already mentioned by someone else, the belts themselves came to around £100 and whilst id never changed them before, they were really easy to do following watching some videos on youtube.
