Really impressed with what I found
Really original bike (bar the paint job)

Rear shock needs refreshing as the salt has got too it ,

The fairings although painted are all genuine ducati panels ,

The wheels are damaged and look like someone fitted the tyres with a bread knife ,

Chain sprockets and tyres are all bang on ,

Engine paint peeling and the odd bit of rust appearing on frame round the welds but only surface nothing to worry about ,

Airbox seal is knackerd I'll order one of those
and air filters are crumbly so orderd some piper cross ones ,

Gear leaver rubber also on order

Amazed it still has the standard rubber brake lines on it and clutch line so I'll change them for braided and new fulids

Better recoup some cash for belts plugs and oils then I'll powder coat frame and wheels over winter and save up to respray the bike to original red

  5. The headlamp holder would look better if finished in the correct colour, in your case Gold.

  6. Yeah soon as iv found a paint code I'll do that gold , I plan on going back to complete original with period mods (brake lines termis etc )

  7. ICI have a paint chip for the Gold as also the matt lacquer required. Cheaper than going to some bike paint specialists.

  10. I use a local Motor factor who stocks ICI paints and therefore can mix any ICI colour. Check locally where you live for similar and when and if you find one pop down therefore and compare the chip to your frame.

I use ICI paints all the time and the colour match is perfect on the older bikes.

  12. Superstar I know just the place to try ,

    Unrelated note
I put the quick release fuel pipes the wrong way round when I put the tank back , stayed at my girlfriends last night so didn't have an Allen key to spin it back round , bugger , lesson learnt

  13. I understand from others that as the circuit is in a loop it apparently doesn't matter. If that's the case fair enough I guess, but I think it's still best to put them in the correct way round as per Ducati's intention.

Use grease on the plastic elbows and O rings to make the passage into the tank fixings is easier as the rubber O rings do get nicked and can then leak. Always have a few spare in stock just in case it happens, they are cheap enough.

  14. Excellent thanks , it does matter because the bloody thing won't start lol

  15. It is indeed a loop and as the pressure regulator is in the tank, so the loop merely supplies the injectors with a supply of fuel at the correct pressure, then it doesn't matter which way round they are.

  16. I stand corrected ,

It did turn over very very slowly last night and this morning , maybe the battery had had its day , it was sat a while so I presume the guy has just give the battery a good charge n it's lasted a few days , I'll get the multimeter out and test all the electrical systems ,

Orderd a new fuel filter o rings some carbon heel guards n bits today , I'll get plugs oils and filters this weekend , any recommendations ?

Should of put this in the build threads section on second thoughts

  17. I use Iridium tipped plugs on my bikes apart from the 748R which uses Champion QA55V plugs which are not recommended for other models anyway. Others will be able to offer alternatives based on their experience. Personally they work for me and last, but not everyone has had the same results or feels the same way about them.

If you go that route you will need a thin walled plug socket and it is recommended that you use a much larger gap for the plug. A search on the forum should throw up some posts about the plugs etc.

  18. I wouldn't try starting to many times with a knackered battery or you'll screw the sprag clutch.

@Exige 's famous starter cables are way cheaper than a new sprag. And easier to fit.
