Isn't the 748 916 996 998 a four wire unit as the other wires feed the fuel pump. where as the 900 is two wire looking at the pic on ebay??
^^^ I think you are right as the other two wires feed the pump externally. Someone else on the old forum got caught out like this as I remember when he purchased the whole pump and found the connections incorrect and also the fuel hose fittings were different. It might be cheaper to buy a whole pump, someone (not me) sold one yesterday for £47 on eBay complete with all fittings. It might be easier than paying for a brand new fuel sensor unit and then at least you have the rest as spares or you could sell it on minus sensor.
That is a 4 wire unit if you look closely, two wires feed the sender and two wires connect to the pump via the internal connector. What on earth do you think the two wires connect to inside the tank. Steve
Looks the part to me. I have one like that (from an SS ie) in my Monster tank and, whilst I have never removed both it and the one from my 916 at the same time for comparison, I believe they are the same part. Certainly both use the same size nut which, whilst you're swapping sensors fit a new alloy nut 'coz the plastic ones are shite and (an old one) will likely break when tightening or shortly afterwards anyway...
I failed to win the complete unit when it went for over £57-seems a lot to pay for a warning light!? I'm going to be sidelined for a while after an op on Monday, do I may dismantle mine and investigate it. Or I may just disconnect the light ! Thanks , people.
