Just went onto Go-compare to get quotes for my Biposto. I'm 58 with 3 points (SP30) and five years no claims, living in West Yorks. I only do a thousand miles a year. Third Party F & T quote from Swinton £61-68 with a £350 excess. More than pleased as I paid £93 last year.
My old '97 748 is under £100 fully comp and I'm 39. Clean licence and 10+ years no claims . Seems the early one's are classics now too.
I've just renewed the 1098s with Swinton. 44 years old, 9 years no claims, fully comp. I did have a claim on my car insurance 3 years back when I came back to it to find somebody had crashed along the side and done a runner. £115 and they were miles cheaper than anybody else.
Did you guys previously notice an increase in insurance due to your 3 points ? Today I received an NIP for excess speed -59 in a 50 and don't really fancy doing the speed awareness course to avoid the penalty points. I was under the impression that the insurance companies disregarded the first 3 points, was that the case with you ? rdw
Not with me when I got points. Insurance(car) went straight up at renewal. Some have now started asking you to declare if you've done a speed awareness course too.
Mine's excessive cos of two bumps I had in the car. Both proven to be not my fault but I still get penalised. How does that work then?
I got my 3 points in March this year and expected a bump, but it made no difference whatsoever, as my premium dropped from £93 to £61 tpft. I'm gonna take out fully comp now as that is only gonna cost me £92.
Is the cheapest best though!? we all fall into the trap of going with cheapest quote and automatically think it's the best but do the cheapest companies pay out the same as more expensive ones? You generally don't find out how good an insurance company is till you have to claim. Insurance companies should declare what percentage of claims they actually pay out for so you can rate how reliable they are likely to be if the worst happens.
