Hi guys, wondering if I get some advice from the oracles? I've been restoring a 748 and finally got everything together to start it on the weekend. With fresh fuel, engine started without a problem. However had a small oil leak from where the starter bolts to the engine. I took the side cover and the starter off and resealed it. However now the bike won't start. The starter cranks the engine and I can here the fuel pump. The sparks weren't wet when I took them out. I've never checked for a spark before so I might be doing it wrong. I removed the vertical spark plug and earthed it against the cylinder head and couldn't see a spark whilst cranking the engine. Can anyone help me in the right direction please? Thanks
Some muppet decided to squash the crank sensor cable between the engine and the side casing! I'm choosing to blame ducati for making the cable so unnecessarily long. One pretty ugly fix and it's all back together, will try and start it tomorrow. Cheers Derek, such a great help. Appreciated
Glad to hear it was an easy fix Incidentally, I don't think any 748 ever had 2 sensors, only the 916 with the P8 ECU. I may be good at figuring out why a bike isn't working but I haven't yet succeeded in knowing before it's happened
