As per title, I'm looking to add some filters to the stacks I'm fitting from a 748 and want to know what size so I can scour eBay for some cheap foam filters. As its for race bike not too worried about what make long as they stup gravel and track crud heading into the engine so any recommendations welcome
I've got a genuine JHP 748 race filter in the workshop Paul......£30 plus postage ? Or are you fitting them to the DD bike ?
Yes Dave, want a pair of pods to go over the 748 bell mouths I have that will go on so no air box so if that's what they are cool I'll take them off your hands, save me looking. then I can junk the monster tank for a much lighter 916 one plus fit the super lightweight battery on too...that's 5kgs saved in 1 step
That kind of thing would do it, but still don't know what size, and before someone says measure it (apart from I can't get to the garage) I'm nit sure if the size they quote is at the end that connects the bell mouth and as the bell mouth is tapered what I measure on that.
As long as it goes over the bell-mouth then use a cable tie to hold it on, so it doesn't really matter if it's on the large side. I've got them for the FCRs on my Monster.
No, its not like those pictured above Paul, its a one piece filter with two holes where it fits over the intakes...I do keep pod filters in stock tho, with a 63mm opening...they fit ove the std 38mm mikunis so may well fit your injectors?
Just zip tie a peice of the missus's best 10 denier stocking over the trumpet...................... It worked on my old MX bikes, and is what I am doing on my 620DD shed. Though I shall not be using your wifes oold stockings. Jeeeze, I'm PMSL thinking of you going into Boots and buying a pair of stockings. Dragging yourself around the store on your arse like a vietnam veteran, then your head just popping over the counter to pay at the till............Hmmm stockings is it dear?????? KY too?
And have it sucked in like ghosts.....think if I'm going to finally remove the airbox I'll use the proper kit Where were you yesterday anyway?? Home advantage and all that...
I was in the workshop and had the parts to hand so tried my filters over a 916 bellmouth (think they're the same dimension as 748?). I have the '1050' filters and they will go over a 916 bellmouth, it is a bit of a stretch as although they are 50mm ID the widest part of the 'trumpet' is 90mm. If you're careful they'll be OK but after time and a few removals I would worry about splitting them, so if they have a bigger size then maybe best to get that. Pics may help;
Make a change to have spikes on our wheels bashing rather than elbows Mind you, I recon you could even low side a horse drawn carriage!
