748 Slipper Clutch

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by VtwinDave, May 2, 2015.

  1. I've been offered a mpl slipper clutch from a 748r , will this fit my 748s and can I still use my rizoma pressure plate from my standard clutch and are they worth putting in . I'd be getting it for around £250 .

    Cheers

  2. Yes all Ducati dry clutches between the models are interchangeable. The centre nut size varies between models but the R will be the same as the S. You need to set it up properly and your pressure plate should also fit.

You may find it will judder more than a stock clutch hence the need to set it up correctly to stop this as much as possible.

  3. First things first, a standard clutch pressure plate does not work with a slipper clutch so sadly, no your Rizoma will not fit. As to whether a slipper clutch is a good thing on balance most on here say yes. I don't recognise the make you have been offered but the central nut is different between the 916/748/996 and the 998. Slipper clutches wear the same as standard but they do require maintenance. There is a lot of info if you search. Andy

  4. you need to post what your rizoma pressure plate looks like as it may work with both your std clutch and a slipper. A genuine std pressure plate won't work with a slipper..
