Gonna try and rip the SPS I recently bought apart for a big service in the next couple of months. Not been serviced for a while and bits and pieces on the bike questions the previous owners approach to maintenance.. so I want go give it a good look over. So the obvious things will be done; oil, filters(fuel/oil/air), plugs, belt and valve clearances I also want to check the valve timing as a little googling says the sps engine is sensitive to this? Where can I find good guides for the work above? Between me and my mate we have good mechanical knowledge but neither of us have worked on Ducatis before. Will any special tools be needed? Cheers

Hey fred11, you can download the owners manual and a spare parts catalogue from the ducatis site: http://ducati.com/services/maintenance/index.do They only go as early as 2001 for the 748S/748E/748R versions, but still helpful.
