I am about to remove the swingarm from the bike. Having just read through the manual it informs me "Note. Due to the design of the machine, the engine must be removed first to allow the swingarm to be removed." Is it possible to remove the swingarm without dropping the engine out of the frame? I'm sure many on here have had their swingarms off in the past. TIA. Current state of play below, note the sprocket carrier and disk rotor will be removed for overhaul before I remove the swingarm.
The two bronze top hat bushes that go through the swing arm, protrude into the frame so the swing arm will not drop out unless the engine has been removed, you can remove the swing arm bolt without any support because of this. I have heard of people prising the frame apart enough to drop the swing arm out but it's not something would do, ever. Steve
I have 'expanded' the frame in the past to get the swingarm out, but the engine mounting bolts need to be slackened first. Needs to move a few mm only so if you do it don't get carried away.
@Birdie @ducv2 thanks for the advice. I’ll remove the bolt, make sure it’s corrosion free, grease and replace. I’ll then clean up the swingarm in situ then. Cheers
