748r prices?

Discussion in '748 / 916 / 996 / 998' started by THJ, Sep 16, 2013.

  1. I still can't make my mind up on 916sps/916senna/corvette! so my mind wandered to a 748r.
Finding a price guide for a 748r at the moment is proving difficult.

Any sensible suggestions on ball park figure I should expect to pay for a 748r in decent condition?

  2. i went to look at 2 748Rs both arond 5k, and neither worth it on inspection, both less than immaculate as described. i think thats the bottom end price range for anything semi decent. i ended up buying my sps because it was in better nick the the R's i had been lusting after!

  3. I looked semi seriously also and found that the pricing varies massively! Around £5k seems to be the going but as much as 6.5k for a 2002. Dealers think that lack of price means that they can pick figures out the air.

  4. It depends on the model, the full Ohlins spec ones do go for £5,000 plus and I have seen a couple of really immaculate ones. An early one will go for a lot less and they also only started off being available in Yellow only if colour is an issue.

Have you thought of a 748SPS? they are a very rare bike with only 100 bring imported as UK models for the few years they came in. They go for less but are almost as good but only come with an Ohlins rear shock, you can pick these up for about £3,500 onwards. The 1999 UK model is the one to have, only 20 imported in that year so they are very rare. I have both models and there is not that much to choose between the two.

  5. My MY02 748r cost me £5,600. 3 years ago with 2 owners and 3k on clock, there is no way I would take that for her now!! TBH I wouldn't sell her anyway but knowing there's only 89 left in uk with only 40 on the road at present it would take a fair amount more to even tempt me [IMG][IMG]

  6. you could buy my mint 748r show bike if you like, fully rebuilt engine with 853 kit,mag/carbon wheels, full standard respray including frame, many many extras. really is immaculate!!

  7. That site is highly inaccurate. Ignore it.

  9. I got a straight swap for a 2008 848 when I trade my lovely immaculate 2002 748R in a couple of years ago, wish I could have kept it as it would be worth good money. Wonder where it is now, sold it Robinsons of Rochdale.

  14. Guy's Ive just picked up a 2002 748R, 7800 miles on the clock, mint condition Front ohlins have had the k-tec treatment and sued Corsa seat, rear sets and Factory Race Chip (original one as well) not sure if I have picked up a deal or not but I paid 4250 quid. Its been conformed as a genuine 'R' by Ducati UK. I believe it was one of John Reynolds bikes when Ducati came back to the TT in 2010, but thats not confirmed. I bought it tonight but not ridden it yet as its peeing down on the Isle of Man and didn't fancy riding it home in the pitch black, having had a 748 years ago I know the headlights are crap and living in the sticks with no street light put me right off bringing it home. But chuffed I have/hope picked up a a great deal.

  16. Sounds like a good price.

  17. Sounds like a good deal, there are some good buys out there if you hunt hard enough amongst the overpriced tat that's been for sale for months, a clean completely original low mileage 748 biposto popped up on eBay last week for just over £3000 it sold in a couple of days. Similar bikes are still for sale for over £4000

  18. There are a lot of fantasists about. The best one so far is the £15,000 749!!!

  19. How Much

I sold my 2005 749 last year, it had the red frame power commander, I rode it all the way to the factory and back, with the help of pain killers my back was fooked afterwards. I let it go for 3700 as i need the cash, whoever ended up with it had themselves a bargain, spent a fortune on it, very sad day saying bye to that........ But I think I've picked up a little bargain, still not picked it up from the guy I bought it off. its just to miserable over here to ride it so will collect it on Saturday in mates van and get some pics up.
