Hi guys, Quick question regarding the 748R. i am potentially looking at buying one, however it has the older style fairing. The bike is Registered as a 2003 model however I suspect it's a 2000 model due to the older style fairing. Now I always thought that the full Ohlins package only appeared on the 2002 models with the later fairing, however this bike has the full Ohlins package, Rear shock, forks and damper. Is this correct ? Any pointers will be appreciated. jake
slab fairings on 2002 onwards build including ohlins front and rear, though some didnt come with the ohlins steering damper... is it a dealer? can you get the chassis number and check it with DUK? it may well be a grey import?
Thanks Andy. Having previously owned an 'R' I thought I knew everything I needed to know and then one comes along and questions everything Hmmmmm I will contact the seller to see whether the bike is an import. I understand that the bike may have been Registered late hence the 2003 Number Plate, but I am also baffled about the Carbon Air Tubes unless off course these were fitted afterwards, and off course the full Ohlins, Im puzzled. Here are a few pictures incase anyone spots something that I may have missed. Thanks
Having spent a bit of time on this, I definately think that there is something wrong The side fairing is just wrong too as this should say DUCATI and not 748.......Am I right ? ..........I blame the people on this forum for not selling me a nice 748S Grrrrrrrr lol
and the fairing and tank Ducati is in silver..........should be in black seat unit looks correct although the pad on a 2002 onwards was a grey colour....
I dont think a single piece of the body work is correct for an '02 to be honest and certainly not like my old 2002 version. There is a difference between it being registered in 2003 and it being a 2003 model. The last version was called the 748R 02
Because the 2002 748r was the last one to be made, anything registered after 2002 would have been hanging around old stock either in the UK or abroad. There may well be a perfectly good explanation for the bike........ But as he says he is looking elsewhere
Thanks for your input Guys the seller has just confirmed that the bike was an import and that it was registered new in 2003. That may explain some of the variations. I've spotted a nice R on-line at a local garage. So I'll probably go and look at it. Biggest mistake was selling my R back in 2004 This one is Number 219, did anyone in here own it ? My old one was 856.
Heavily messed with bike, different bodywork looks like indicators in the mirrors, obviously Ohlins front, etc
Well spotted, I wondered what that cable was for. I just found a mint 'R' at a local garage. Looks like ill have a new toy on Saturday Thanks for your observations
