749/999 exhausts

  1. Hi all,

Can anyone help, with the 749/999 are the exhaust parts all the same? The only one I think is different is the middle part with the cat. That is different on the deepsump engine, are the other bits inter changeable?

    Nige

  2. you might be better saying what it is you want to do…..

  3. Im building a bike from spares. I have a grey swinging arm and have the offer on a 749S engine to fit. As i will need to get the exhaust to fit was wondering on the difference before hitting ebay again. I have an end can only at this time.(exhaust wise)

  4. is the engine deep sump i guess not, and the swing arm is a grey one (smaller) so most of the more restrictive issues are not in the way…..the std cans are the same as its an asymmetric system….

  5. That's something I couldn't answer as I've never tried to interchange them , as I would imagine neither have anyone who has a 74/99
unless they've had crash damage but I would guess you would be right.

  6. What year is the 749S engine?

The 03 S model has the same engine as the 03 standard model. So you just need to be careful about matching it to the Ecu.

the 04 model got revised cams, so it made a bit more power.

no changes after that. Ducati just changed how they quoted the power output, from rwbhp to crank.

  7. Thanks for the updates. The engine is a blue print engine, I assumed all S engines were all deep sump so thanks for the update on 03 models. I am waiting on pics of the engine to see if a deepsump and more info on milage/age etc. My project started when i got my 999 several years back and have been collecting spares over the years in case I dropped it. My wife said you have enough spares to build a bike and said might as well do it. Still some bits to get and the offer on the engine sounds good. As I said its a little project for me to tinker with.

  8. My 03 749S with a grey swing arm was a shallow sump.

  9. The only 749 with a deep sump was the R .

  10. That's what I thought.
