Any put on one of these clear led lights with built in indicators? Wanna know about build quality and maybe someone has a pic of how they look on a 749! Thanks Mike
Yes - I've put one on my 999, and am really pleased with it. I have noticed that moisture can get inside if the hose jet is pointed directly at it, but on the whole I am very happy. I really like the cleaned up look of the back end, which was spoilt by the OE indicators. I will either find a picture, or take one in the morning......
Sweet, thats good to hear! if you could post a pic that would be awesome! think ive already made up my mind
Read this yesterday and took a photo of mine last night in the garage, not very good photos but you can get the idea until cockneyjanner puts some up, if not I'll take some when I'm on my next days off, I'd agree with him they look good, very sharp looking. Guvs.
You’re welcome. Must say Janner's photos are a bit better than mine you get a good idea what it looks like in daylight. Guvs.
Just noticed something !! unless you have a reflector on your number plate you could put a strip of reflective tape on the top of the number plate light like I did, don’t want to give anyone the excuse to stop you and give you a producer for not having one, you need it for an MOT anyway. Guvs.
That's a great idea - I didn't realise yours was just tape. I will try to get some to keep my friendly MOT man happy
I had one of those for a week or so but didn't feel safe with it. In bright sunlight the indicators don't show up very well especially when brake light is operated.. Also I was followed by a cop expecting a pull as the bike looks like it has no indicators, they are not far enough apart by law anyway and if I got a tug for them then the exhaust and numberplate are next to be scrutinised. Looked great but too risky for this kiddy on 9 points at the time.
Hi All. Just out of interest I did a short video of my rear LED light mod today, hope it works, just left click on photo and wait about 20 sec for it to load. I know what you’re saying about "not feeling safe" and I agree with you not ideal, but as for legal, I had a set of these on my previous bike for 3 years and passed it’s MOT every time no problems, also this unit I’ve got is advertised as “road legal” and has a E mark (E11) stamped on the lens, and thinking about it there is a VW (can’t remember what model) that has an indicator in the center of a rear light/brake light and that’s OME, cant get closer than that, I might be wrong but if I get pulled I will be arguing the point to a magistrate, I’m properly wrong will end up with a ticket anyway. lol. Guvs.
I have one of these as well on my 749, paid about £60 for it. Build quality is good. I take mine off for MOT as my local tester says no. Also they are not road legal in the uk as half of the led for the tail lights go off when the indicator is on and they alternate flash which means a flashing rear red light which is the illegal part.
Hi Shaunsounds good to me, but I’ll keep going to my MOT tester until he tells me itsillegal can’t be arssed with changing it every year.Guvs
Guvs, don't get confused with what the MOT tester can or can't pass as opposed to the police that will use construction and use legislation. These lights are illegal under construction and use legislation because of the flashing rear red light aspect. Other than that, they do look good.
Had mine fitted for a few years now without any issues, as mentioned above they won't get though the MOT though.
