Howdy all. Can people give me a run through of the exhaust systems for a 2004 749r along with their pros and cons? Hows does power/torque change/noise etc? Cheers.
Haven't got a clue what the sizes are Francis but I possibly have a 54 mil jobby available shortly... ( termignoni) I seem to think your bike has one fitted already though....
Can you let me see some pics? Trying to see what's what regarding exhausts, also it seems some 54mm systems aren't quite the same?
My plan is to get the ecu mapped and my understanding so far is a 54mm system on a 749r should give me a nice 120bhp at the wheel and a nice curve?
I'm really interested in dyno figures and which dyno's they were produced on ( boring twat I am) My old girl has some motor work done although the engine builder was reluctant to discuss..... Has a 54 mil system but this is the system with different bores to the silencer. Hacketts dyno showed a little over 150 ponies and a little Over 80 ftlbs of torque ( apologies for ugly repitition)
What filters are you running? Where did you get yours mapped? Have you got a sheet showing the curve to see how and where its making it?
749R used mainly on the road will give more mid range with 54 mm pipes . Even the corse 749RS only had 55 mm pipes . That was breathed on at the factory and sold to certain race teams only . Even that bike couldn't match 150 rwbhp . It made 140 rwbhp . I would go with 54 if it were mine. The 999RS only had 63mm and that was close to 200bhp but needed a 50k rebuild after every race. The only **9 bike that will run right, through the rev range mainly on the road , with 57 mm open pipes is the 9R . I.M.O
Although the 749RS doesn't exist, the 749R's that were used for Supersport racing with the Kit parts had 57mm, not 55mm, I know 'cos I had one.
This one had a 55mm exhaust . From Ducati Corse to Italian Supersport to Larry Pegram to me – Gino Angella’s 749RS racer | Ducati.net There were two kits that came with the 749R the one that you or I could buy which was £6000 and one that came fitted from corse and was only supplied to their chosen favourites . This kit we could not buy and although there was no 749RS this was as close as you could get and was classed by many as the RS. Jerrys worlds: The Ducati 749RS
No it will not fit . It is not for the deep sumped engine , which yours is , You need one from either a 2006 749s or a one from a 2005/2006 999 or 999S Both these engines were deep sump as was the last of the 749 s . It will run ok with a 57mm but it will run beter with the 54mm . 57 is great at high revs but not so good mid range . Same on the 999s .
As I said in a different post I have a stuart easton 749R Ti complete system . This one is 57mm although why they call it 57 I dont know because the bit that counts is 54mm.
Mine is on Jerry's blog, ex BSS riders (JHP) A 749R with the factory kit. Same ones who built Eastons bike. See post #5 http://ducatiforum.co.uk/f18/need-help-values-9906/#post146904
