Currently I have 15/39 sprockets (2.6 ratio) running on 96 link 520 chain on my 749R Supersport. I fancy upping the gearing but don't want to buy a new chain really. I was thinking of a 14t front with my 39t rear which would raise the ratio to 2.786. I see that this is standard gearing on a 749 and 96 link chain should be OK (Shazaam data on Avanti Race Parts Avanti Race Parts - Ducati Parts and Accessories for Road and Race Motorcycles. I also have a 41t rear which I could use with the 15t front (ratio 2.733) but I reckon I'd need a longer chain... Anybody got any comments, good or bad? Cheers, R
Can't see you having any issues at all running the 14T front tbh. Give it a try and see how it goes. If it works, then think about switching to bigger rear and chain when the time comes to renew.
Hi Ricky I'm 15 f 41 rear on I think a 98 chain on my 999 it is fine . The only problem I have is that I have had to move the rear wheel back a couple of mm to get my tyre warmers past the higher profil tyre and swing arm. I am not exactly sure if its 98 but almost certain , and it's also a 520
