  1. Hi All.

Im after a guide or some pointers on what i need to do to gain access to the air filter to clean them as i believe my bike has aftermarket units fitted due to the sticker & power commander.
    Thanks

  2. There are two air filters, one either side on the bike.
This is what they look like, new on the left, old standard ones on the right.

I removed both side fairings, the nose fairing and both mirrors.
Undo the three allen bolts that hold the ram air tubes to the air box, then you can remove them.
I tried but couldn`t remove these tubes with the nose fairing still attached, maybe I was doing something wrong.

The right tube incorporates the header tank, undo a clip and remove the hose.

Once the tubes are out the way you can pull the air filters out.

    Clean and re fit.
If you find you have the standard filters and you are very careful, they can be stripped and cleaned. I stripped mine (they were filthy) but fitted the Pipercross ones instead because I found them on sale £20 cheaper than normal.

  3. When you remove the 3 screws that hold the air tube , look at the different lengths of the bolts and ensure that you replace them in the same position. Otherwise you can spend hours ( like me ) wondering why the bloody things wont screw into position correctly!

  4. Short bolt goes at the bottom/front

  5. Thanks for the info & Pics... Much appreciated :upyeah:
