Back in the 80's I so wanted a Simpson Bandit 'Star Wars' helmet as they were the coolest thing around, (albeit totally illegal on UK roads, as some cops were well aware of ) Our local Mr Cool was a guy who rode a turbocharged Ice Blue Kawasaki 'Z1R', turbo'd, the obligatory green/white Team Kawasaki jacket and a white Simpson Bandit complete with jet black visor! Because of this I have just treated myself to a current model 'Venom' which admittedly is a bit muted looks wise compared to the original but still looks good, and it is legal! Compared to my other helmet it is a bit noisier, wind noise, BUT who cares, it looks so good and that is the No1 concern
Although the lining/padding etc is WAY better than the old 80's version! This proved to be very comfortable to wear on its first outing today. Just missing the vertical vents in the chin piece of the original - a mate did offer to set his Dremel to work on it but I think I'll put up with it as is!
Well y' know what to do... https://www.simpsonhelmets.eu/contents/en-uk/d1846_Simpson_M30_Bandit_Motorcycle_Helmet_.html
I know what you mean, they were wicked cool back in the day when everything was Bell or Nolan shaped!
Me and a friend bought one each from the motorcycle show to get a discount. Came back on the bus hugging them. We still have them.....
At an 80’s NEC Show one year I was in the process of trying one on but realised it was too small - as I started to remove it one of my stupid mates thumped it down on to my head! The nose piece was jammed under my nose and my ears also jammed in at the sides, took bloody ages to get it off resulting in a sore nose and ears.
