So, I have been looking for a while at exhausts for my bike. I can't really justify Termigs new (and they don't seem to come up often with the fuel ECU). So.. I could buy Leo Vince, or Arrow, or Akrapovic and get CJS to remap the bike to suit. However where do I stand with regards to the MOT and no longer having catalytic converters? I wouldn't be able to simply change the silencers back because it will have been mapped too them.... Help! Also, Arrow only list for the 848, not the Evo, so my question is whether it's just the spring mounts that are different? anything else? How different is the spring placement. I just don't want to spend £400 getting CJS to set up the bike to then have to book it back in and getting it remapped just to pass an MOT.
There is no emissions test in the MoT, nor does the exhaust have to be E -marked or BSI marked. It is entirely up to the testers discretion whether he deems it too loud or not. Some will pass with an advisory for the exhaust. Your insurance on the other hand will want to know about any modifications and may refuse to insure, ask for an additional premium, or simply accept it with no loading. If you don't tell them, in the event of a claim they may deem the insurance void.
Thanks for that, I didn't think it was such an issue but a few people have told me they emissions test. I would obviously sort the insurance out, just the MOT issues I am concerned with.
So I have been offered a set of arrow titanium slip-ons brand new for £530, what do u guys think? I spoke with moto Rapido and they said that mapping wouldn't be a problem and they can do it but wondering if anyone has any thoughts? The Arrow on my daytona 675 was brilliant, lovely quality but the carbon tip did start to burn after a few thousand miles, I'm sure it would be okay but just an observation.
