848 EVO with Termi End Cans - How much DB for a track day ?

Discussion in '848 / 1098 / 1198' started by Fastmonkey, Sep 23, 2013.

  1. I have managed to get a place on the MSV track day tomorrow at Brands GP. The DB limit is 101 and I have no idea what mine comes in at on the termi end cans.

I have the baffle but no idea how to fit it or if I would need too.

Quick responses on this gratefully received !

  2. I would definitely put the baffles in!!! I believe they slide in and are retained with a small grub screw, others will be able to confirm.

  3. Ok I better dig them out tonight and get them in then, hope they are easy to fit ! Any info gratefully received ?

  4. Mine (2013 848 Evo Corse SE) makes 102 without baffles on a clear day. 98 with cloud.

Id say try it without and stick em in if it fails. Shouldnt be a problem with the baffles in.

  5. Yep, I agree. I would go without but take them with u for sure!!! Not worth the hassle of not taking them.

  6. Ok thankyou all good advice, I'll dig them out tonight, hope they are where I think they are !

Any advice on pressures to run for tyres ?

  7. You've normally got a tyre supplier there who would be able to advise. I tend to run 26 front and 24 rear but get advice from a professional who's there and can see what the conditions are. If you drop the pressures it will feel heavy initially but as you get heat into the tyres the feeling will come back to more what you're used to. Track riding will generate much more heat than road.

  8. Yeah I would go around 6-8psi lower than standard, however some dunlops with n-tech can be run at 17 for the rear as they are designed like that.

  9. Ok totally embarrassed at asking for help to fit, they couldn't have been easier, my 2 yr old put them in with me

My tyres are Diablo Super Corsa's................ ?

  10. Pressures depend on the temperature on the day i think.

Check with the tire guy or one of the instructors. Generally all racers / ex racers and will help out.

Dont forget to re-inflate if riding home. Seen it done.

  11. If you havnet put the DB killers in before, I'd suggest you do it tonight or you may miss the first few sessions getting the b'stds in! Dont know what yours are like but my Akro ones, and from what I saw the termi similar, were a nightmare until you got 'the knack'. Maybe the first time, while stressed and rushed, just before you head oht on track not the best idea unless you are not a novicc trackdayer

  12. I managed to get through sound testing without baffles on a non-Evo with termis at Silverstone recently. The noise limit was 102db although the guy just got me to rev the bike up while static and gave me the thumbs up.

During the briefing they did tell everyone that if they suspected they were over limit then go and get tested before going on track as if you are later found to be over limit then that would be the end of your day regardless of whether you have your baffles with you or not.

  13. Sailed through the noise test with baffles in, the track day workshop man was doing a roaring trade in baffle fitting and exhaust wadding.

had an absolutely brilliant day at brands gp, what a circuit. Bike was faultless, me less so but great to be back on track. Thanks for all the pre prep help.

  14. So lucky with the weather, but dont crow too much of the Ducati day lot will be after you ;-) lol

BTW how easy to fit the baffles?
