Ok my 848 has had a knock on light bumps for a while but it is getting worse. As the forks were due new oil i thought i would pull them apart. Comparing the 2 it seems the knock is coming from within the cartridge itself on one leg only. The more you increase the comprssion damping the more pronounced the knock becomes. I don't have the tools to take the cartridge apart but before i send it off anyone have any thoughts on likely cause or suggestions on best place to send it ?
Might have found the problem after reporting what i found to Ktech and it might turn out to be a common cause of showa forks knocking as i know many do but people live with it. Does anyone have a showa 1098/1198 or 848 fork cartridge to hand who could confirm something for me. Hoping someone may have upgraded their internals and have one kicking around. Needs to be a the later forks not 99/749 etc as the cartridge differs and doesn't have the plastic bottoming cone etc.
