848 forks in a monster

  1. Thinking aloud. I have a set of Showas with bottom yoke. Will they fit into a 620 monster? Or what other models could they drop into?

  2. The forks defo go in 748/916. :upyeah:

  3. Doubt it's a straight swap but they could certainly be made to fit.

The yoke is likely to be a different size/fitment, I'm using 1198 forks in a 916 and 916 forks in a (old style) Monster and both required some changes to get them to work; in the Monster both yokes were the wrong size but have been engineered to fit (916 yokes don't fit a Monster) and the SBK forks are longer which limits the choice of handlebars etc.

But it can certainly be done, measure the diameter of both sets of forks at the top and bottom yoke first to see which way to go.

  4. I have 749 in mine. Depending from diameter yokes will need to be bored/sleeved or new one's needed. Then you can use clip-ons or up and back/forward bar risers as forks are sticking out over yokes quite a bit.

  5. I've done googling and seems the rake changes substantially if on a monster. I know using SS yokes on an early monster changes the rake and quickens things upfront a little, and wonder if 848 even worse.

Got some mates who race Ducatis, and one who has non adjustable forks in his Monster and wondered if could easily be fitted....sounds unlikely. Think best way is remove the lot and see what we can get to fit. Another mate races a 996 so if the swap there is fairlystraight forward, maybe we'll have a crack at that.

Seems a shame to leave them in the garage.

  6. They'll slip into 916 and Co yokes no probs, of course they'll need calipers and a spindle.
