So 848 landed yesterday way taller than I thought so skinny seat sorted, asked at dealer about lowering kits and apparently the 1098 rear link bar fits the 848 and is adjustable which should bring it down? He assured me no implications on the handling and I'm pretty new to sports bikes anyway so won't be going mad but has anyone else done this? He was getting me a part number but hasn't come back to me does anyone have it or link? Thanks
Its this. 848 Ride Height Adjuster - Ducati Online Shop - Ducati Glasgow Its also good to adjust the height of the bike if you make changes to the stock shock settings
Dropping the rear will effectively increase the steering angle, slowing the steering slightly. This can be compensated for by lowering the yokes through forks by the same amount, hence keeping the geometry the same. Be aware though that lowering the bike will also reduce the ground clearance.
You could fit the adjuster keeping it at the same height as the non adjustable one. Then have the height lowered by an expert who can set the whole bike up for you.
At 5ft 6 Id say I am a real short arse, I can ride it but just no way I could push it about if needbe without jumping off, I didn't feel properly in control. I've taken the super pole seat off and it is thick I'll see what the standards like. I've lowered a bike in the past and dropped the forks but I dropped that a fair bit, I'll see how it goes...
Haslam motorcycles had a 1098 adjustable bar on eBay that will reduce down 15mm from the fixed bar I have. Very helpful chap and delivered for £25 Poor bikes only been with me 3 days and it's in bits
Probably a few on here who would take the super pole seat off you... In addition to other advice: I'd look into putting a softer rear spring on (presuming you're not overly wide for your height) By default 848 has very hard rear end; almost no sag for the average rider...
