hi chaps im in middle of building and 748/853 track bike and im still running the original exhaust system 45mm with baffled link pipe with 45mm termi end cans,i see there a lad on here selling and 45-50 link pipe with 50mm end cans would these be benifical for my project? will i lose power with fitting the bigger exhausts or will it be better as the bike will be at the top of its rev range most of the day?? ive read loads of articals on this but cant really work out whether its worth it anyone shed any light on this for me?? many thanks
Fifties will be fine, I used to run a 54mm system which was a bit big and lost a couple of nm in the midrange.
My 853 ran best with a 45/50 mm system on so they'd be ideal. 50mm headers gained a little top end, but lost pretty much everywhere else.
I think the 45mm headers with 50mm cans is about best. Sure as Nelly says a full 50mm might give a bit more peak, but if we only wanted peak power we wouldn't have Ducatis. Twins are about corner speed and traction. Ducati won countless world championships without having the Most power.
