Hello, I ve had my amber warning light ON first time this week and noticed a couple of things that I would appreciate if others share similar encounters. Firstly the instrument panel didn't produce the ENG/ERR message to identify any error codes. Does it take a special action to enable that? I followed the owners manual steps but no luck. Then decided and took it to the local dealer who is not particularly experienced with panigale. They plugged it to their computer and found that the problem is with a sticky flap near the end of exhaust can. Apparently this opens and closes depending the engine cycle to regulate the fumes and heat. Is there an actuator that regulates the action and is it easy to go wrong?
sounds like the flap is sticking. Very common fault across all ducatis that have one. Cut it out. Best thing you can do. Easy fix. Lots of threads relating to different methods. Some require a plug and play box, some just tricking the flap servo with a small spring etc.
Thank you for the quick reply. The engineer told me the flap is open but the amber light is ON unfortunately. What do you mean by cut out? Any idea how I can divert the check to switch the amber off?
It sticks every now & then on mine, To free it I spray wd40 or Acf50 on the cable which opens & closes valve & turn it by hand a few times. Usually works fine after.
It closes at certain rev point briefly. Spindle gets corroded, sieizes. Literally remove flap from spindle. I drilled off drilled screw heads. You may need to fool the flap servo motor (to eliminate error code), with cheap aftermarket gizmo. Or put spring on end of cable to offer resistance and fool servo. Like I say , several methods.
