  1. So, I noticed that the adjusters on the front forks were not the same (left n right) so thought I'd get the book out and take it back to standard settings. I went on to check the preload and this is where I get a little confused. The book says to start from the fully open position in brackets clockwise? but would that not be closed?? So do I close it (clockwise) and then anticlockwise to adjust? and am I clicks or turns???
Hope you can help, I will do a little search now as well ☺️

  2. Yes you've got it Right you have to count the turns. My advice is to a put a soft cloth on the Hex's & a nice fitting Socket line the ratchet or T-bar up with a marker & count the turns.
Hope this helps that's how I did mine.

  3. Appreciate that :) am I right about the open position? In my mind the fully open position would be all the way out (anti clockwise)...........

  4. The way I read it Clockwise is fully compressed.

  5. Sorry just realised you've got a 899
Think they are different forks to mine.

  6. Although the English can be a little wayward in foreign manuals, they don't normally talk about 'fully open' with regard to preload, that is a term for compression and rebound settings.
Anyway, if you are talking about preload, no preload is when the adjuster is fully anti-clockwise, as you say. I've never known a bike with a left hand thread on preload adjusters.
My 1199 manual talks of 6 clicks with regard to preload, it meant 6 turns!

    Hope that helps :upyeah:
