V4 899 To V4s

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by Bo01691, Feb 7, 2024.

  1. It’s been discussed a few times on here, the move the from a twin to the V4, but am I mad for considering a high mileage V4S or even one being sold by The Superbike factory!? The prices of 18/19 plate bikes are all over the place and these have slip on exhausts that I’d look to buy anyway. My 899 does everything I need it too and I’m not ‘needing’ power but after 6 years, I’ve got a V4 itch that needs scratching.

  2. i considered an 1199 or 1299 jump but on thought i dont need 200 hp on the road

  3. Did you test ride any V4s?

  4. Don't rule out a non-S V4. And treat Superbike Factory like a private sale purchase, and you should be fine buying from them.

  5. I wouldn’t touch Superbike factory with a barge pole.

and I have a new Speed Triple 1200 in the garage, 175hp is nowhere near the V4 and yet I prefer riding the 899, I just think the V4 would be savage on the road, my R1 was okay for pottering around on but it was mad on the road

  6. I was lucky to ride V4SP and it an awesome bike extremely fast, smooth and efficient, but I recently purchased a 1299s and man that bike angry, but it has bags of character. So if you are thinking of moving from 899 to V4 you will find it’s a much better bike, but if you fancy an animal to ride get the 1299s.

  7. The Panigale V4 is leaps and bounds a better bike than a 899.

spend a bit more and get at least a 2020> better sorted tech and geometry 2022> even better sorted tech and geometry.

I wouldn't pay the extortionate prices of the named place. If you want to pay over the top I would find one at a ducati dealership.

  8. I've had an 899, loved it to bits apart from the riding position, found too to arse up and wristy for me. Now got a late 2021 Euro 5 Panigale V4S, as above the geometry is loads better and feels awesome to ride.

  10. Nope, haven’t taken the opportunity to try one yet.

  11. Plenty of choice in dealers, less so from a private sale. Although in theory I could spend more on a newer bike, my sensible head is trying to keep the cost to change lower hence 18/19 bikes.

  12. Ohlins front and rear
    Blip box pro
    Slipper clutch
    Lots of carbon
    Rear sets etc, etc.

I’m only missing the OZ wheels which I do keep an eye out for.

  14. I’m not keen on the sssa, a lot of effort for no gain.

  16. Now why would you want rid of that thing of beauty for a bigger uglier step brother?

  17. Is that a decal kit or a wrap out of interest?

  18. Glad I'm not alone thinking that. Loved my Panigale 959 but was too wristy and hot in the crotch in urban environments.
However, I still miss it. Boy was it fun when used appropriately as designed.
I'm getting the itch to trade the Monster for a V4S.

  19. It is a pretty bike but have you heard the sound of that V4!? It’s a full paint job, from new I believe (I’m the 3rd owner)
